International Day of Families at Regent Scanbrit in Bournemouth

To celebrate the International Day of the Family on 15th May students at Regent Scanbrit in Bournemouth have been discussing family life and traditions this week.

Tuesday's discussion club introduced family related vocabulary along with the question “Should grown up children look after their parents?”.  This produced a variety of answers from different cultures  - but even people of the same culture had very diverse opinions!

The Plenary on Wednesday by Principal Steve was on Happy Families and what makes them happy! A lot of different ideas were discussed but the consensus was that families need discipline, routine and love.

At Thursday's Potluck lunch staff and students had the chance to discuss families in general, what age children leave home, who is the boss of the family and how we celebrate at family get-togethers. It was interesting to see that the phrase “blood is thicker than water” seems to be common across several languages. Take a look below to see some pictures from the day.

We would like to finish with a quote that students at Regent Scanbrit in Bournemouth school agreed with: Families are like fudge – mostly sweet but with some nuts!!!”

Don't forget that Regent Scanbrit in Bouremouth offer Parent and Child courses, click here to find out more.
