For the last 5 years Regent has offered a scholarship through the International Association of Teachers of English as a Foreign Language (IATEFL). The purpose of the scholarship is to provide opportunities and an international platform for English language teachers to discuss their ideas and engage with the English language teaching community.
At Regent we understand the importance of educational opportunities for people across the world. Not everybody has equal access to education and in Malawi there is the additional challenge of an abrupt switch to English as the medium of instruction, from the national language Chichewa, halfway through primary school.
On May 10th, a team of teachers and students from Regent Oxford ran in the Oxford Rotary Club charity fun run. The 5K run gave teachers and students a chance to bond as a team and have a some fun to raise money for Regent's charity of the year, the Kalinchowk Youth Dolakha Nepal.
The International Association of Teachers of English as a Foreign Language (IATEFL) recently held their annual conference in Manchester. Each year Regent gives an English teacher the chance to win a scholarships to the conference. Above shows Regent Director of Education Geoff Hardy-Gould with this year's winner.
