Which English course is right for me?

We are known for our academic excellence - we have a course of English suitable for a range of needs:

For younger students

Students aged 7-12 can take All English - Junior. This programme is specially designed with young students in mind and includes 21 hour of lessons. The course runs separately from our courses for older students, and students are supervised at all times.

For exam preparation

Students aged 13-17 who need to sit a Cambridge exam can take All English - Exam. This 21 hour intensive programme is action packed with lessons and educational activities with a strong focus on preparing for an internationally recognised exam. Prepare for Cambridge FCE or CAE and take the exam on site at the end of the course.

To improve skills and confidence

All English - Senior  is for students aged 13-17 who want an intensive, engaging course which is not exam focused. The course includes 21 hours of lessons including a daily interest based learning session chosen from Sport and Health, Music and Performing Arts, Art and Design, or Science and Technology.  The afternoon has a performance based project class in which students work in teams towards producing a film, play, debate or show.  Leadership and teamworking skills are built and analyzed in our daily Team-Lead sessions.

To build the skills and knowledge students need for future studies at university

Sixth Form Summer is an academically focused en-suite programme for students aged 16 & 17.  It is an intensive course with a range of sessions to help students develop essential academic skills which will aid them in the future studies and help them prepare for the challenges that lie ahead at university and beyond.  Accommodated in ensuite residences, this is a challenging course in lovely surroundings.

Activity and excursion programme

There are full-day excursions every Saturday throughout the course. These include trips to London for sightseeing and the famous museums and to Cambridge for a tour of the city's landmarks. There are also half day excursions every Wednesday to visit places such as Oxford and Kenilworth Castle, scene of a famous battle in English history, and to Stratford-Upon Avon, the birthplace of the world’s most famous playwright, William Shakespeare.

Students experience activities such as discos, music workshops, talent nights, team games and much more.

All activities and excursions listed are examples and may be subject to change.

Living on campus

Stowe is a very safe and secure environment. Students have a single room or share with different nationalities. Girls and boys are accommodated separately. All meals are taken in the impressive State Dining room at the school, except on excursion days when packed lunches are provided. We operate a banking service for pocket money and lockable storage facilities for valuables. Staff are residential and live on site with the students to ensure 24 hour supervision and care.

Stowe is very special. We use the stimulating educational environment to heighten our students’ learning, using the arts, culture, architecture and sculpture found in the school and grounds. It was home to England’s wealthiest man, the Duke of Buckingham, who often entertained the King at Stowe. The parkland around the house was developed into landscaped gardens which are now some of Britain’s finest. The network of paths show off the numerous temples, sculptures and lakes that fill the landscape.

Stowe School has had some famous students. The entrepreneur Richard Branson of the Virgin Group went to school here, as did AA Milne, who wrote Winnie the Pooh. More recently the actor Henry Cavill (Superman) was a student. And in the 1960s The Beatles played a concert in the theatre - there is still memorabilia in the school. Stowe is the perfect setting for learning.
